Curious about seed paper?

Frequently Asked Questions

About Seed Paper

What seeds are in the paper?

We use a colourful blend of 6 wildflower seeds, both annual and perennial, including Bird's Eye, Black Eyed Susan, Clarkia, Catchfly, Snapdragon, and Sweey Alyssum.

Are the seeds safe for planting?

Absolutely. The seeds used in our plantable paper are tested and approved for planting in Canada, and many other countries around the world. All the seeds are NON-GMO, and are not considered to be invasive species in North America.

The paper is made in Canada from post-consumer products and is accredited by the Canadian Phytosanitary Certification Program for Seeds (CPCPS) which means all seeds are tested for purity by a CFIA or AOSA (Association of Official Seed Analysts) in an accredited laboratory.

Are the seeds native to my region?

Since we don't know where the cards will be sent to and planted, we choose to use these seeds as they're all non-invasive and contain pollinators. Each seed is native to a region of North America, so at least 1 of the blend is likely to be native to your area.

About Planting

How do I grow my seed paper?

You can read exactly how to grow your seed paper on our page "How To Plant Seed Paper"

Do I have to plant my card right away?

No, you don't have to! You can keep the card on display until you're ready to plant and enjoy the next phase of it's lifecycle. Seed paper doesn't have an expiry date, but after about 2 years the germination rates will start to slowly decline. Whether you decide to plant it, put it on display, or tuck away as a keepsake, it will be a beautiful reminder of the person who gave it to you.

When is the best time to plant my seed paper?

You can plant seed paper indoors, all year round! If you'd prefer to plant outdoors, you can plant in the spring through the fall.

About The Good Card

Where is the paper made?

The paper we use is all Canadian made, from recycled and post-consumer waste collected from schools and offices. Thats why you'll sometimes see a line or typed letter in the paper.

We hand print and hand fold the cards right here in our home office in Kitchener, ON.

Where are you located?

We are located in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada!

Do you have a Storefront?

We operate out of our home office (and sometimes our dining room table!) but may plan to expand to a storefront in the future. For now, you can shop our cards in person at our wonderful retailers.
